Hole Indexes for Golf Cards

Hole Indexes

How does your club work out the Hole Indexes printed on your score cards?

Do you want your players to receive their strokes on the holes they find the most difficult?

Hole Difficulty by Handicap

The hole that is given Index 1 is the hole that is most difficult for a 1 marker. There are now 17 holes not yet Indexed.

The hole that is given Index 2 is the not yet indexed hole that is most difficult for a 2 marker. There are now 16 holes not yet indexed.

The hole that is given Index 3 is the not yet indexed hole that is most difficult for a 3 marker, and so on… up to 18.

The hole that is given Index 19 is the hole that is most difficult for a 19 marker, and so on…

The process continues up to 36 for men and 45 for women.

The golf statistics algorithm produces optimal estimates of hole difficulty for all handicap levels from the hole by hole scores data downloaded from the Miclub server.
